A note from the developer in the patch notes explains why for the modification:
World of Warcraft: WoTLK Classic Gold The coming 9.1.5 patch is now available on the game’s publicly-available test realm. The latest patch notes provide additional changes to Blizzard’s MMO that weren’t previously revealed.
”We’ve received lots of feedback about the ability doesn’t hit enemies at all in any way causes problems with the feeling of WoW combat, but also a problem for minor encounters such as farming content from the past,” the patch notes note.
The note from the developer further explains that even though the total AOE damage to abilities will increase due to the elimination from the cap however the amount of damage that is done to the target will decrease.
”This solution ensures that these abilities as well as their corresponding classes will continue to be able to compete against a group of 4 adversaries,” the patch notes note. ”As always, the tuning will be altered as a result of this change in the coming weeks depending on the feedback you provide to your PTR.”
One of the biggest changes is the elimination of the game’s zone-of-effect (or AOE) cap. Introduced in WoW WoTLK Classic in buy WOW WoTLK Classic Gold, the AOE cap means that all abilities powerful enough to hit multiple targets will only be used on a limited amount of targets. The cap will disappear in 9.1.5 and will result in abilities which are currently AOE limited instead do less damage to enemies that go beyond the initial five targets.
